Keeping our lamps full of oil and in good working order is a constant, never-ending process. For some this seems so overwhelming. As one friend lamented, ''It's always testing, testing, testing. It's enough to drive a person crazy.'' But really it's all in our perspective. Tests of our faith are really a blessing. They keep us in the ''ever-ready'' position. They give us the edge when we start floundering. I am grateful for the tests because often I do not realize that I am slipping until I am hit with something that makes me draw on the powers of heaven. It takes that jolt to wake me up to see that I've let my guard down and am not as spiritually ''in tune'' as I should be. Every trial, every test we have is really a gift. If we are prepared and respond properly, each test should teach us something, and will make us better than we were before it happened.

It seems that we are being given reminders in both large global ways and in small personal ways to focus on what matters.  A new sense of hope and opportunity seems to be emerging. Let’s embrace it! Find the time to give back, speak and show your affection often, keep promises, believe more strongly in first steps.

 
Let’s begin putting our intentions into action. I am talking about a new way of approaching life. The way we spend our time is ultimately the way we spend our lives. Devote your time and energy to what really matters.

What do you always think about doing, but don’t actually do? What does your heart desire? Have you always wanted to run a marathon, take a trip to the land of your ancestors, take a photography class, learn to speak another language, plant a garden, or volunteer at a local charity? Let this be the year you actually do it! The reality is we make time for whatever is really important to us. If it is truly a priority we find, we carve out, we create the time.

Every minute of every day, your behavior (thoughts, feelings, actions) contributes to the world as you know it.  Wellness is a word that describes you, doing your best.  Wellness is your life at a balanced optimum.  Wellness is health in the deepest and broadest sense of the word.  It is a practice, and a process.  It requires patience and persistence.  Wellness embraces your entire being, accepts you as you are, and loves you unconditionally.  Wellness walks with you.

Wellness is that special blend, that unique formula, that secret recipe.  The ingredients are your own, and only you can create it—however, you are not alone.  The Office of Wellness at Xyngular is dedicated to sharing the journey, connecting you to resources and programs and each other, putting Wellness at your fingertips.

Wellness is first and foremost a choice to assume responsibility for the quality of your life. It begins with a conscious decision to shape a healthy lifestyle. Wellness is a mind set, a predisposition to adopt a series of key principles in varied life areas that lead to high levels of well-being and life satisfaction.  A consequence of this focus is that a wellness mind set will protect you against temptations to blame someone else, make excuses, shirk accountability.

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful existence.
The key words in this first sentence are process, aware, choices and success.

• Process means that we never arrive at a point were there is no possibility of improving.
• Aware means that we are by our nature continuously seeking more information about how we can improve.
• Choices means that we have considered a variety of options and select those that seem to be in our best interest.
• Success is determined by each individual to be their personal collection of accomplishments for their life.

Wellness is not the mere absence of disease. It is a proactive, preventive approach designed to achieve optimum levels of health, social and emotional functioning. Wellness can also be defined as an active process
through which you become aware of and make choices toward a more successful existence. A wellness-oriented lifestyle encourages you to adopt habits and behaviors that promote better health and an improved quality of life. It also involves the recognition that you have physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs, with each dimension being necessary for optimal levels of functioning. Wellness is a positive approach to living - an approach that emphasizes the whole person. It is the integration of the body, mind, and spirit; and the appreciation that everything you do, think, feel, and believe has an impact on your state of health.
